Welcome to Northwestern University's School of Continuing Studies!

The School of Continuing Studies offers a broad range of educational programs that allow you to take the next step in your life. Perhaps you want to further your education with a degree or a certificate; maybe you are preparing for new career challenges and opportunities; or you might simply want to explore a new interest. The School of Continuing Studies is prepared to be with you every step of the way.

We are ready to be your education partner for life. From our certificate and bachelor's degree programs to our master's degree and new professional development programs, Northwestern's School of Continuing Studies has a program to match your needs and interests, no matter where you are in your education or life.

Classes are taught by some of the University's most respected and talented teachers - scholars and professionals who value the diversity, energy, and creativity of our students. At Northwestern you will enjoy much more than the convenience of taking classes on one of our two lakefront campuses (in Evanston and in downtown Chicago, near the Water Tower) or at our new downtown Chicago Loop location at 105 West Adams Street. SCS gives you access to resources available only at a world-renowned center for learning: comprehensive library collections (Northwestern's is the 10th-largest private university library in the nation); innovative technology in and out of the classroom; labs, studios, and other facilities of the caliber you'd expect to find at a top university. And our academic advisers give you the sort of personal attention you need to take your next step.

The mission of the School of Continuing Studies (SCS) is to extend the resources of Northwestern University to undergraduate and graduate students whose lives include significant professional and personal commitments that place limitations on their schedules and affect the pace at which they may achieve their educational goals. Consistent with Northwestern's dedication to excellence, SCS makes distinguished teaching available to nontraditional students and, to the greatest extent possible, provides access to the University's other resources, such as libraries, laboratories, recreational facilities, and events. The primary goal is to become a lifelong educational partner for both alumni and friends of Northwestern University.

Our Web site offers program information, handbook resources for students and faculty and staff, course listings and descriptions, online and downloadable application forms, a calendar of upcoming events, and current press releases. You may also contact us for more information or to schedule an appointment with an advisor.
