About College Prep at Northwestern
The College Preparation Program at Northwestern University
is designed for high school students like you who want new
academic challenges and the experience of real college life.
Take a one-week IN FOCUS Seminar for possible high school credit or choose from a variety of three- to eight-week courses and earn college credit as a part of Northwestern University's Summer Session.
College Credit Courses
Northwestern offers a bevy of summer courses for college preparation. With more than 300 undergraduate courses to choose from, the College Preparation Program provides you with a great opportunity to explore a variety of academic areas and get a head-start on your college career. Courses are flexibly scheduled, ranging from three-week intensive courses in the sciences and languages, and four to eight weeks for most other offerings.
IN FOCUS Seminars
The College Prep Program's IN FOCUS Seminars are designed for students who want an intensive learning experience in a specific subject area such as sustainability, global justice, or pre-law. It is a great option for students who want an academic experience, but are unable to spend more than one week on campus. These one-week seminars are structured like a college seminar course.
Preparing for College
The Get Ready Series prepares you for the transition between high school and college life, and will help you navigate the college admissions and
application process with direct access to University admissions counselors,
financial
aid officers and student services representatives. Writing
consultants provide the guidance you'll need to develop strong application
essays
and to write with greater complexity, confidence and interpretive
savvy.
Campus Life
Northwestern's beautiful lakefront campus provides the perfect setting
for academic achievement and summer fun. As a College Prep student, you'll be responsible for your
own success and balancing the various demands on your time.
You'll mix socially and academically on campus with students from every walk of life, whether they are from your program or other Northwestern University summer programs. Along the way, you gain experience,
confidence,
and inspiration - a great way to get ready for college!
