Get Ready Series
As a student in the College Preparation Program, you will participate in the Get Ready Series, a series of panel discussions and workshops about college admissions, transitioning to college academic and social life, and writing the college admissions essay. As most College Prep students plan to apply to college in the fall, one of the primary goals of the Get Ready Series is help you make your college application as strong as it can possibly be. Admissions counselors, financial aid officers, and student service representatives from the University will present you with important information and answer questions. A certified writing instructor will help you formulate your application essay, encouraging you to write with greater complexity, confidence and interpretive savvy. Attendance at the Get Ready Series is required of all College Prep participants. You may also schedule individual appointments for writing consultation at Northwestern's Writing Place, an undergraduate peer advising service that is open throughout the Summer Session.
In addition to becoming familiar with Northwestern, you may tour nearby colleges and universities. These informal trips allow you to get a feel for other campuses and explore the differences among the schools.
