ASTRON 101-CN
Modern Cosmology

How did the universe begin? How will it end? Starting with fundamental physical theories of gravity, light and matter, this course explores the development of the modern Big Bang theory which describes the origin, structure, evolution, and fate of the universe. Observational insights into the nature of stars and galaxies are presented and connected to recent theoretical concepts such as dark energy, dark matter, and cosmic inflation. Other topics include the formation of elements, the cosmic microwave background and black holes. This course is designed for non-science majors.
