Bookstores and Textbook Ordering

Faculty should order books at least eight weeks before the start of the term.

If your course will be taught on the Chicago campus, order your books from the Abbott Hall bookstore at (312) 503-8486, email sm776@bncollege.com, or via their website at http://abbotthall.bkstore.com/bkstore/content.

If you are ordering course packets (a package of supplemental readings for students that have been approved for duplication through copyright clearance) and teaching on the Chicago campus, you must order thorugh Xanedu.com, an online service that prepares course materials. Contact Xanedu at www.xanedu.com or (1800) 218-5971. Xanedu will obtain clearance, provide you with the cost for students, and can even make materials downloadable to a laptop, if needed. If you encounter problems with Xanedu, please contact Bernie Kelly at the Abbott Hall Bookstore at (312) 503-8486 or sm776@bncollege.com.

If your class will be taught on the Evanston campus, order your books and course packets from Norris bookstore at (847) 491-3990, norrisbooks@northwestern.edu, or via their website at http://northwestern.bkstore.com.

A note about desk copies: It is more efficient to order desk copies directly from the publisher as they too often ignore requests sent directly from the bookstore. Faculty will be notified via email when a textbook or deskcopy has arrives in the SCS office. Books that are not picked up by the end of the quarter will be held by the School of Continuing Studies. In cases where your desk copy does not arrive before the start of the term, you may borrow a textbook from the bookstore if you provide a credit card number as a deposit. The card will be charged only if the copy is not returned. Simply return the borrowed copy to the bookstore once your desk copy arrives from the publisher.
