This course covers the components of the U.S. health care system, including the federal government's role in health care, health industry management, cost and quality issues, managed care, reimbursement mechanisms, legal and regulatory issues, profit vs. nonprofit care, the role of technology and technology assessment, and compares the United States with international health care systems. Technologist-track course for students with little clinical experience.
