Prenursing Concentration

Join us for an Information Session to learn more about this program! Click here to reserve your seat today.

The prenursing concentration admits both pre- and postbaccalaureate students into courses required for admission by three types of nursing programs:

  • accelerated registered nurse programs for college graduates who are not nurses
  • bachelor of science in nursing completion programs for licensed registered nurses with associate degrees or diploma RNs
  • master of science in nursing programs for licensed registered nurses without bachelor’s degrees

By combining fall, winter, and spring quarter courses with Summer Session courses, prenursing students complete required courses on a flexible year-round schedule that can be customized. While Northwestern’s prenursing concentration offers courses generally required by the three types of nursing programs listed above, students are advised to contact the schools in which they are interested before enrolling to ensure that the SCS program fulfills their requirements. Students in this concentration will need to take a microbiology course elsewhere because Northwestern does not have the facilities for such a course.
