The Certificate Program in Business Administration

Today's complex organizations require that individuals in all areas of an organization have a working knowledge of the essentials of business as well as an integrative perspective of how business functions. The Certificate Program in Business Administration offers a broad-based practical understanding of business management and its functional areas with an emphasis on best practices. It is designed for individuals who wish to increase their business skills and gain a credential that will help them advance in their careers or excel in their current positions.

The Business Administration certificate provides the opportunity to build a personalized development program focusing on the specific skills needed to advance your career. Courses are offered in a variety of formats to accommodate participants' need to remain active contributors to their organizations while pursuing the education that will keep them competitive. Courses may be taken in any order.

Participants who complete this program will:

  • Acquire a deeper understanding of core business functions including marketing, finance, and management
  • Develop problem-solving and critical thinking skills needed in business
  • Learn to better manage business projects and teams that cross traditional functional business areas

The program is designed for:

  • Individuals who wish to increase their business knowledge
  • Professional staff in nonprofit organizations who wish to develop their business skills
  • Entrepreneurs starting or considering starting their own business
  • Technical professionals in fields such as computer science, healthcare, insurance, financial services and engineering who need to develop their business knowledge and skills
  • Individuals without a business degree preparing for an MBA program

To earn the Business Adminsitration certificate, students must complete three required courses and two elective courses.

Students interested in enhancing their leadership abilities may also be interested in the Art of Leadership Certificate Program.
