The Art of Leadership
Today's organizations are in a constant state of flux, responding to their environment, their customers, and their competitors. These conditions necessitate that professionals hone their team building and leadership skills in order to motivate individuals and create cultures that foster innovation and high performance. Professional development in the art and science of leadership empowers current and future leaders to develop and execute an organizational strategy that can weather the storm of unrelenting global change.
Northwestern University's School of Continuing Studies is pleased to offer the Art of Leadership certificate. This program provides training to help professionals better understand and embrace strategic thinking and strengthen their leadership skills in areas such as leading change, building effective teams, and developing and executing competitive organizational strategies.
Participants who complete the program will:
- Understand leadership styles and organizational
culture and dynamics that will enable them to better lead
change and transform the organization
- Have opportunities for leadership style assessment and reflection to improve their communication skills and performance as leaders
- Explore effective leadership
roles such as the leader as coach and mentor and the leader
as agent of change
- Increase team performance by learning
how to build and manage high performance teams
- Develop
a heightened awareness of the internal and external challenges
in creating an agile and innovative organization
- Strengthen
conflict resolution and negotiation strategies to enhance
personal and organizational negotiation effectiveness
Who Should Attend:

to move into new leadership roles

for managing high-profile
projects or teams in the organization
- Individuals in for-
profit and nonprofit organizations who wish to build their
leadership skills
Students may choose to take any of the
leadership courses individually or may wish to complete
the Art of Leadership
certificate program. To earn the certificate, students
must complete the following 4 courses:
Students interested in enhancing their business acumen may
also be interested in the Business

Students interested in exploring the art of Coaching may also be interested in the Summer Coaching Institute
Custom Programs The School of Continuing Studies works with corporate
partners to develop
custom Leadership programs to meet their specific needs. This program
can be held at your company location.
