Project Management

In ever increasing numbers, organizations are turning to project management to help them gain competitive advantage. Regardless of size or industry, project driven or not, companies can leverage project management techniques to help them complete work on time and on budget in an environment which reinforces alignment with organizational strategy.   ®

These techniques involve managing people, risks, costs, and time, using horizontal team structures in organizations that are often vertically oriented. Within this framework projects are developed and managed according to a defined set of procedures that produce consistent results.

Managing projects successfully in this environment requires a combination of technical and people skills. Achieving project management best practices involves integrating a sound project management methodology with strong communication, team building, and analytical skills.

The highly participatory Project Management classes at the School of Continuing Studies use combinations of interactive lectures, discussions, small group work and exercises to help project managers achieve this critical combination of skills.
