Northwestern University 2010 Commencement

The University Commencement ceremony will take place at 6 p.m., Friday, June 18, 2010. All School of Continuing Studies degree candidates, both undergraduate and graduate, are invited to participate in the Commencement activities. Additional information can be found by visiting http://www.northwestern.edu/commencement/. The Northwestern University Commencement Ceremony takes place only in June. December graduates are encouraged to participate in the June ceremonies.

School of Continuing Studies Convocation Ceremony

To honor the School of Continuing Studies Degree Candidates, participation in the Convocation Ceremony will allow both undergraduate and graduate students to be recognized individually, including recognition for academic honors. This event will take place on Saturday, June 19, 2010 at 12:00 noon at the Alice Millar Chapel, 1870 Sheridan Road, on the Evanston campus.

Undergraduate Students

SCS undergraduate students who will complete degree requirements by June or August are eligible to participate in both the Commencement and Convocation ceremonies in June of the same year. SCS undergraduate students are urged to apply for graduation one year in advance. Application for bachelor degrees can be downloaded at http://www.scs.northwestern.edu/forms/application-for-bachelor-degree.pdf and must be submitted by Friday, October 30, 2009.

Graduate Students

SCS graduate students must complete all degree requirements and paperwork by the deadlines posted on the graduate calendar at www.scs.northwestern.edu/grad/calendar. Graduate students earning their degrees in December should participate in ceremonies the following June. Graduate students are urged to contact the program coordinator for specific details regarding graduation and thesis submission.

Students in SCS-conferred programs (MPPA students admitted after spring 2006, MALit, MALS, and MCW, and admitted after winter 2009), and all MMI, MFA MSA, MSCIS, and MQARS students) should complete the form at http://www.scs.northwestern.edu/forms/Application_for_Degree.pdf.

Students in TGS-conferred programs (MPPA students admitted prior to spring 2006, and all MALit, MALS, and MA in Creative Writing students admitted prior to winter 2009) may obtain an application for a degree through CAESAR. Before diplomas are released, all course work must be complete; official transcripts for transfer credit must be received by SCS; and all fees, tuition, library fines, and parking tickets must be paid in full.
