SCS Listservs

To facilitate increased communication between students, faculty, and staff, email Listservs have been created for each SCS graduate program and undergraduate major. These Listservs promote open communication about events, internships, career opportunities, and other pertinent news like course offerings and scheduling changes.

Each quarter, newly admitted students and students who have declared a major will automatically be added to their program or major's Listserv.

Frequently Asked Questions

I'm an SCS ________ major, why haven't I received any Listserv posts?

There could be several reasons:

  1. Some lists are more "active" than others; perhaps there have been no recent posts.

  2. You were not automatically subscribed. Follow the instructions above to subscribe yourself to your program list.

  3. You may join any Listserv, regardless of your major status. You may join more than one Listserv.

I'm graduating soon; will I automatically be removed from my program's Listserv?

No. You will need to unsubscribe yourself from the list. (See instructions above.) A notice will be posted to each list in June and December reminding graduating students to unsubscribe.

I know I'm a member of my major's Listserv, but when I try to post, I get an error message telling me only members can post.

SCS asks students to subscribe to the Listserv using their NU email address, not their personal email address. However, many people have their NU mail forwarded to their personal email. If you are on the Listserv with an NU email address, you will need to post to the list from your NU email address. If you would prefer to use your personal email address for the Listserv, simply unsubscribe using your NU email and subscribe using your personal email. If you need assistance, please contact the List Administrator.

I'm trying to unsubscribe, but I keep getting an error message.

If you are trying to unsubscribe from your personal email address, you will need to unsubscribe using from your NU email address.
