Advanced Placement Summer Institute - Location, Accommodations & Parking
Location
The Northwestern Advanced Placement Summer Institute will be held at the Norris University Center on Northwestern's Evanston campus on the shore of Lake Michigan, just north of Chicago. Accommodations
On-campus housing is not available for the AP Summer Institute. However, there are a number of hotels within walking distance to the Evanston campus which will offer a special rate to Northwestern affiliated guests. Please make your reservations as early as possible to ensure the best rate.
- The Homestead, 1625 Hinman Avenue, Evanston, (847) 475-3300, $95/night or $570/week (plus tax) single or double occupancy. Mention the Northwestern AP Summer Institute. Rooms reserved after June 27 may not be eligible for conference rates.
- The
Hilton Garden Inn, 1818 Maple Avenue, Evanston, (847) 475-6400, $124/night (plus tax) single or double occupancy. A limited number of rooms are available at this special conference rate applies if rooms are reserved by June 27. To reserve a room at this rate call 1-877-475-6400 and mention the Northwestern AP Summer Institute. Rooms reserved after June 27 may not be eligible for conference rates.
Parking
Permits for parking in certain lots on campus during the AP Summer Institute will be available for purchase after registration. Permits cost $35 for a five-day pass and must be requested by June 27th. Participants who wish to purchase a parking pass must deliver their Parking Request Form (indicating the workshop and session for which they are registered), along with a separate check for $35.00 (payable to Northwestern University), to the Office of the Summer Session no later than Friday, June 27, 2008. You will receive an email confirmation on Thursday, July 3, that your request was received. If time allows, permits will be mailed prior to July 7. Only participants who are registered for the AP Summer Institute may request a parking permit. Separate Parking Permit Request Forms and separate checks
are required for those needing parking permits for both Session One and Session Two. Please send or hand-deliver your request form to:

Please note: Requests for Parking Permits received after the June 27 deadline will not be fulfilled, and participants will be responsible for making their own parking arrangements. Parking Permits will not be available for purchase through the Summer Session Office during the AP Summer Institutes. |
Participants may also park at the Church Street Self Park garage that is operated by the City of Evanston. Parking costs $8 for 6-12 hours and the first hour is free. The lot is located on Church Street, just east of Chicago Avenue, and is within walking distance (10 minutes) to the Norris Center, where the institute will be held.
