Grants & Scholarships

Federal Pell and SEOG Grants and Illinois Monetary Award Program (MAP) Grants are available to eligible students who demonstrate financial need and who have not received a bachelor's degree. Typically, students must be enrolled at least half-time (two or more courses per term) and reside in Illinois for at least one year to qualify for a MAP grant.

Scholarships

Scholarships from nongovernment sources may also be available. These scholarships typically are awarded partly on the basis of academic merit. Alpha Sigma Lambda, the national honor society for evening colleges of liberal arts, offers a merit scholarship program. Students are encouraged to investigate outside scholarship opportunities at public libraries or on the web. Limited information about nongovernment funds may also be available at the Financial Aid Office.

Additionally, the generosity of alumni and friends makes it possible for SCS to offer scholarships to students. To apply, students submit an SCS Scholarship Application Form (PDF Format), a letter detailing academic interests and professional pursuits, and all required financial aid application materials. Financial aid materials must be received by the deadlines for SCS scholarship consideration.

Transfer students may also apply for merit scholarships. Contact the SCS undergraduate admissions office for information at 847-491-0990.

For application forms, application deadlines, and additional information, see the scholarship resources page.
